Seamus Heaney is Ireland’s Nobel Prize-winning poet and one of the most important voices in twentieth century literature. His work is rooted in the landscape and language of rural Ireland, but reaches into questions of history, violence, identity, and the act of writing itself. Examiners reward students who can engage with Heaney’s imagery and layered meanings rather than summarising.
